Long Time No See
Guess what everyone, I'm back, and with an artist to help out with the comics. That's right, Toronto Otaku is officially back from its long hiatus. Introducing artist Mitchell Flatt, who is currently trying to finish basic sketches of characters for his own reference. Hopefully the first strip in over a year and a quarter will be up within the week. Look forward to it.
Wow, its been a while since I checked here, Christmas I believe. The comic is not dead, as most people probably assume from the lack of updates, just on a hiatus. I love this comic, and I want to continue it, but I love writing it, not drawing it. As you may all have realized too, I suck at drawing. Now, I want to continue the comic, but the drawing is becoming such a chore, and its not exactly easy on the eyes either I'm sure. So, instead of forcing myself to do that, I have a new plan. I'm now looking for an artist to help me in creating the comic. I don't care how you draw, if you think you're better than me (which admittedly isn't hard...) then feel free to send me an email at email@example.com with drawings of the characters in the comic. I'll go from there. Thank you for listening, and hopefully Toronto Otaku will return soon, better than ever (also not exactly hard to do).
Well, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah (though it's over), and whatever else I'm missing in that sentence. Or otherwise, Happy Christhannukahquanzmas! Anyways, yes, I put up a little bit of filler, but you know what, it deserved to be posted. It's Christmas, and I'm lazy enough about this comic as it is without having to draw anything today. Besides, there's so many things I have to do this week that I really don't have the time. As for the source of the above image, its from an MMORPG called DOMO, Dream of Mirror Online. I've been playing it for the last little while since Closed Beta, and I quite enjoy it. Ichida, Fleets, and few other people also play, and we're workjing on starting a guild. They added all this stuff to the game for the Christmas holiday, including snowmen, santa suits, and random holiday costume pieces for the monsters roaming around.
Anyways, Christmas has been pretty good so far. Other than getting a DS game that I already had, I got a few books, Transformers, and a new Digital Camera, which is awesome because my old one had like 10 MB of memory on it...and therefore didn't last overly long. Anyways, see you all next week with an actual comic.
Oh, and may I take this opportunity to direct your attention to the Paypal link above once more. You know...to help me out with this business thing.
FREE AT LAST! AGAIN!
Okay, done at the bakery for a while, I think. I may still have to go in for a day or so next week if they really need me, but failing that, I'm done. Not going to work there in the summer either, not with ovens going all day making it over 70 degrees celcius in there...
Anyways, comic is up, and for those who did not hear, yes, Funimation had a little whoops moment when they released Itsudatte My Santa on DVD...finally...I've had it for the last two Christmases and have already made it a habit of watching it each year around this time. So knowing it as well as I do...the rating caught me offguard and had me assuming they had done something to it as per usual. I was wrong though...they just messed up the printing of the covers. I wonder how many parents bought it for their kids for Christmas. They supposedly aren't getting that many calls about it, but I say it probably just has to wait until the 25th...then the calls will flood in.
As for other information, some may have noticed the new button at the top of the main page. It is a Paypal link, and I believe I mentioned last week that it might be going up. You should already know why, but just in case, its me collecting funds in order to create a basic stock to start off my own little anime and manga online store. Basically, I'm hoping I may be able to get enough to buy enough manga and DVDs to start myself off. Now, the usual idea of these things is that even if each person donates just a few dollars, it'll add up. Since I have no idea how many people actually read my comic though, I don't know if I can say that. I'm hoping for it though. So yeah, donate spare change if you want, I just need help getting started. No real incentive other than that, no threats, just do it if you want. That's all I ask. I think you need a Paypal account to do it though...and need to have the money to donate in your account...I think you just enter an amount, then log in and it works...not sure about that myself though. Anyways, see you all next week.
Okay, I lie, there may be one or two excuses. Over the last month, I spread myself very thin. I was doing about 8 different group quests on about 4 different RP sites, had essays and exams, and tried to do NaNoWriMo. I failed to complete NaNoWriMo this year, I barely got started before the end of the month. Anyways, break time, so comics should be going up regularly once again now.
Now, another point I'd like to raise is my current working status. I am now employed at Open Window Bakery, Finch and Chesswood branch, in the back. Basically, I'm working in a bread factory. It may pay $2 more an hour than the last job, but its hell on wheels, I'm barely getting through my days without collapsing. Hell, its 11:30pm right now and I'm fading fast. I usually don't sleep much before 2am anymore...so, I'm really up and ready to try and start the online manga and anime store I mentioned back in September. All I really need is to find a supplier that I can get stuff from for cheap, because I kind of have to factor shipping into the price so i want to keep it as low as possible. I also will need the money to buy the first bit of stock. For that, I'm not sure what I'm going to do just yet. Either keep working my ass off at jobs I hate, or ask for donations. So...if you see a Paypal link on this site in the near future, you know why.
Anyways, that's all I have for now, so see you next week.
I'm Late, I'm Late!
Yes, I'm well aware that I haven't posted a comic in a few weeks, and this one is horribly late. I've been very busy with many things this month, things I have to write for other people, myself, school, NaNoWriMo...I'm falling behind in many things. I am by no means giving up on posting comics, they just may be slow coming for the remainder of the month of November. I will try and have one up Saturday too, considering that its already drawn, but I make no promises on that.
Anyways, as for today's comic, yes, we did it while we were bored. The nerdiest thing we could have done, we had a conversation discussing Dragon Ball Z and GT. The obvious joke that most people could probably have seen from a mile away once Vegeta was mentioned was courtesy of Vegeta3986, the co-creator of Naruto: The Abridged Series, who I met quite randomly in that room. If you haven't seen Naruto Abridged, I recommend it almost as much as I recommend Yugioh abridged. You can see both of the above at http://theabridged.com/.
Enough for advertising today I guess, this comic really didn't turn out as well as I thought it would. Part of the delay was also the fact that I just couldn't seem to get it right. In the end I just settled with what I had, and posted it. Oh well, next comic will be better. See you on Saturday, I hope.
Okay, more filler, but whatever. I've been busy with stuff all week, had no time to do much of anything between Wednesday morning and Saturday night, and had a lot of writing to catch up on in the mean time. This should hold you over until Saturday. I have two more comics from Otakon to do, and after that...well...I'll figure that out when I get to it...

I Suck at Titles for These...
Okay, another week, another comic. I think I'll probably have to bring the Otakon stuff to an end eventually, but for now, I still have several ideas worth doing. Anyways, this week's comic is an obvious continuation to a past comic entitled "Dude, Where's Jo?" which can be found by following this linkhttp://torontootaku.smackjeeves.com/comics/213368/dude-wheres-jo/. If you don't understand what he's rambling about, consider the fact that Baltimore and Washington DC are literally right next to each other and even share the same airport. Other than that, no, Jo doesn't really dress like that. Anyone who can guess why I dressed him like that gets a cookie. Anyone who can't obviously had one deprived childhood.
More comics next week, as I seem to be getting closer and closer to my 50th strip. See you then.
